MARCHING BAND
The Wakeland Marching Band debuted in 2006 with a band consisting of about 50 students. Since its inception the band has grown to become one of the elite marching bands in Texas. The marching band now consists of over 225 musicians and guard members. The Wakeland Band is a seven-time UIL State Marching Band finalist, a Bands of America Regional finalist and champion and was a semi-finalist in the 2014 Bands of America Grand National Championships.

Wakeland High School has three performing Concert Bands (Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band & Concert Band). All bands participate in the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest. All musicians also perform a solo and in a chamber ensemble during the spring semester. Musicians in the top two bands also compete in the TMEA All-State audition process. The Wind Symphony is a four-time TMEA Honor Band State FInalist and performed at the 75th Annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago.

JAZZ BAND
The Wakeland High School Jazz Band is comprised of members of the Wakeland Band Program by audition only. The ensemble meets during the spring semester and studies a variety of jazz-related genres of music. Throughout the semester, the jazz ensemble travels to perform at a variety of jazz contests and festivals in the DFW Area.

PERCUSSION/DRUMLINE
The Wakeland High School Percussion Section and Drumline consist of members of the Wakeland Band Program. The percussion studio meets everyday during 4th block. The WHS Percussion section performs at various contests and event in the DFW Area. In the spring, the studio performs a concert for the high school and feeder middle school percussion programs. The Percussion Section has been an invited performer of the 75th Annual Midwest Clinic and the 2022 PASIC Convention.

The Wakeland High School Color Guard is comprised of WHS students, 9th-12th grade. Any student enrolled is eligible to join! In the fall, the WHS Color Guard participates with the marching band in football games and competitive performances around the state. In the winter, the color guard performs visual shows set to music in an indoor setting, and travels as a group to compete with other color guards.
